Race Car Preparation & race hire

At our workshop at the Silverstone Circuit

Speedsport have a wealth of experience in running a wide variety of race cars, with over 20 years of success on the track.

In the early nineties much success was achieved with Darren Manning in Formula First, Formula Vauxhall Junior and Formula Vauxhall, whilst Darren Turner was victorious in the 1993 Brands Hatch Formula First Winter Series in our Speedsport team machine.

We competed in British Formula 3 from 1996 – 1999, and amongst other achievements scored two historic victories in the British Grand Prix F3 support race in 1996 and 1998 with Darren Manning, and scored a 9th. and a 5th. place finish in the prestigious Macau Grand Prix again with Darren at the wheel.

Since then we’ve worked on a variety of projects and racing programmes, with chief mechanic Kevin Young now entering his 20th. consecutive year in charge of workshop preparation and engineering.

In 2009 and 2010 we returned to Formula 3, running Callum MacLeod in the European Open F3 Championship in conjunction with Team West-Tec.

We had a superb first season, with Callum winning the Copa D'Espania class for the 2006 cars, with seven wins and numerous poduim finishes on some of Europe's finest circuits. Callum also finished 3rd and 4th. overall at Spa, and fifth overall at Jerez. In 2010 we ran in the main class scoring several victories and finishing a close second overall in the Championship.

We love historic cars, and our lovely ex Tim Brise Merlyn Mk20A which we restored from chassis upwards has scored numerous poles, wins and fastest laps with Callum on board, and is now available for hire. This is the car that we loaned to Westie Mitchell after he destroyed his own car and he drove it to Championship Victory at Silverstone. It has been driven by Josh West in 2012 and 2013 with great success including pole positions and wins, and Callum MacLeod steered it to two absolutely dominant victories at the Silverstone Classic in July.

We also now have another Merlyn Mk20A which driven by Michael O'Brien qualified 3rd. and finished 6th. at Silverstone on October 19th, and this car is also available for testing and racing.

We have restored and race prepared a 1988 Lola Larousse F1 car and look forward to running this in anger in the near future.

A recent project was to rebuild and race prepare a 1965 FIA specification MGB on behalf of a customer. Our goal for last season was to compete in the Historic MGB50 race at the the MG Live meeting at Silverstone......not only did we compete but Callum put the car on pole, lead every lap of the 50 minute race and set fastest lap as well !! The cars has competed in many races in the owner's hands since then.

Our workshop and daily rates are very reasonable, and we are happy to undertake work on any race cars.
